Celebrating the people who helped build Memphis. 💙
The City of Memphis hosted Retiree Appreciation Day to honor the dedicated men and women who spent their careers serving our city and its residents.
Mayor Paul Young stopped by to celebrate alongside our retirees, who enjoyed performances, special recognition, lunch, and plenty of time to reconnect and celebrate their years of service.
To all of our City of Memphis retirees: thank you for your service, your dedication, and the lasting impact you’ve made on our city. Your work is part of the foundation we continue to build on today.

In this Music Moment, James Alexander, leader and co-founder of the legendary The Bar-Kays, sits down with Corey Lou Martin, singer-songwriter and founder of Corey Lou & The Village, and Renisha Mayes, Music Business Operations Executive and Strategic Consultant, to talk about Memphis music then and now, the importance of working together, and the lasting influence of institutions like Stax Music Academy and The Bar-Kays.
